The AC died a sudden and horrible death last week, and we've been living like nomads ever since. Last month we had to have the bastard filled with freon because there's a small leak in one of the coils, but it was mostly still functioning and cooling the house. Thursday, however, the entire downstairs unit gave up the ghost.
Kat and Joe's house was no cooler so on Friday we all opted to stay at the Hotel Meg and Andy and had a nice slumber party. Saturday night we crashed with Kat and Joe, and then last night stayed at mom's. I am exhausted and I want to stay in my own bed, but it's too hot to get any sleep.
We had a guy come out Saturday, but the home warranty place is saying they want their own tech to look things over, so there is another guy coming by tomorrow.
I really hope the home warranty covers a nice chunk of the expenses, because if not it's going to be around $3800 to replace the downstairs unit and coil. There goes my dream of the fancy bathtub we were planning to buy.

My boss owns the most amazing cat in the world, and he brought him up to the office to visit yesterday.

Nasa is taking a vote to name the new space station module.
I suggested Galactica.
You should too!

Happy Birthday to the hubs.
I love you, Josh!
I love you, Josh!
Kochanski ran away yesterday, and this has made me very sad.
I know I only had her for a day, but she was so sweet that I became immediately attached.
I just hope that she really had an owner and wandered back to her home.
I hope that when we return home this evening she will be waiting in the yard for us, but I know that won't happen.
Waffles should be thankful, his position as most adorable cat was in peril of being usurped.

So last night I went into the garage to discover a sweet baby kitten chilling out by the washer (the garage door was left open).
She was super sweet and let me hold her and cuddle with her.
Did I mention that she has thumbs? Because yeah, thumbs. Thank you mother nature for giving me an adorable polydactyl kitten. She looks like she's wearing little white mittens.
She was very dirty, but was obviously domesticated because she was not scared of humans in the slightest. She also recognized the sound of dry food being poured because she came running when I shook the food bowl. We fed her and kept her in the garage over night since it was so cold out.
She went on her merry way this morning, but I hope she returns. We think someone may possibly have dumped her in the empty lot that's next to the house.
If she comes back I am keeping her and naming her Kochanski.
I wish I would have taken pictures.
Edit: Kochanski never left this morning after all. She is in the garage waiting for me to come home! :D
I will still do the right thing and put some flyers up around the neighborhood. I don't want to take some kid's cat by mistake.

I want to slit my wrists and bleed all over my fucking desk today.
By the end of today we should have a nice new roof on the house. Thanks Nationwide :D
What the hell has everyone been up to?

Happy anniversary, baby!

I just fell out of my chair at work.
So Josh, Andy, and Meg were outside smoking in our drive-way when a crazy naked man came wandering down the street yelling for help. Josh asked him where his clothes were, and he said he didn't know. He kept saying that he had mold in his house, and that he was sleeping on mold. Josh called an ambulance to come check the dude out, and we gave him a pair of Homer Simpson "Ho Ho Ho" Christmas boxers to wear. He was hanging out in all of his crazynakedhobo non-glory. Naked . . . like the day he was born.
While waiting for the cops to come the dude kept going on about the mold, and he said he knew he was acting weird, and that he went down to St. Luke's hospital earlier today to see if he could find himself checked in, because he imagined that he was in the hospital. He said that he went down to Gibby's (our corner store) and no one would help him, and he was upset because he buys two or three 6-packs a day there, and they know him.
Yeah. What the hell?

Still no power at the house, but my mom's place got power last night so I'm basking in the awesomeness of her A/C right now.
We spent the last 2 nights at J and Kirstin's because they had full water pressure and a gas stove. We raided our fridge and Andy and Meg's freezer for anything still remotely cookable, and ended up making about a billion taquitos and fish sticks while at J's. Mmm, taquitos.
Josh's office has power but not lights (what?) so they made him work in the dark today. The Heights is still without power so I'm off until I get word from my boss that the office is up and running.
Today, I finished cleaning out the goddamned fridge, swept up the leaves that we had tracked in, washed the dishes (we finally have water pressure again!) and then headed to mom's.
Our roof has a decent amount of damage to it, we lost the bit of fence and gate that leads to the back yard, the shed out back has a bit of water in it from rain getting blown into the eaves, and my poor gazebo is impressively destroyed.
We just put that damned gazebo up last weekend, right before we found out the hurricane was acoming for us. I bought it when we first moved in to the house, but we were too lazy to put it up until then. It took four of us to get it up, and we just didn't have the man power needed to get it down when we were preparing the rest of the house for the storm. Right now part of it is hanging from tree limbs, while the rest is in a crumpled mass on the ground. The ground is still too water logged for me to be able to get close enough to start cleaning up the wreckage.
I will miss you, my little gazebo. :(
I am very glad the garage door made it through the storm. Our neighbors garage door looks like the Incredible Hulk punched it. Ike Smash!!!

Mother fuckers
The god damned reunion committee has put all of our senior photos from the yearbook online.
I will fucking kill them all.
My 10 year high school reunion is on September 20th, and I've decided I'm going to go after all. I'd actually planned on going for the past few years, but then I gained 20lbs after the wedding, and decided that there was no way I was going to go. I guess you can't run from your past after all. I'm dying to see how fat everyone else has gotten.
There are probably 4 or 5 people that I'd like to see out of my 600 hundred classmates, and I'm actually going to the reunion with 2 of them.
cock
shit
balls
I will need booze to get me through this. Many booze.
The cabin trip was ridiculously fun by the way. Josh and I headed out to stay at a cabin in Wimberley with Maddy, Costa, Lian, Jarod, Kat and Joe last weekend.
Good times.

We officially own a house now.
It took FOREVER but it's finally done.
Weeeeeeeee!
We're going to start moving things over during the next few weeks, so hopefully we can have a BBQ sometime in August.
And on a sucky note . . . . my father got laid off today.
He and his wife just bought a new house last month too.
I don't understand why my parents can't ever catch a fucking break.

We got a house! Well, I mean we'll be getting a house.
Our offer was accepted for a house on Westpark, and, if everything goes smoothly, we will hopefully be all moved in about a month.
It was actually the 2nd house we looked at, but at the time thought it was too small. However, after looking at about 20 other larger houses that weren't in nearly as nice a shape as this one we decided that we could work with the space.
It has brand new tile in the living room and kitchen, new appliances in the kitchen, a big backyard, and a HOT TUB.
The front of the house isn't that great, but I figure I could put in a flower bed, and paint the trim up a bit.
Anyway, here it is.
